Shattered Dreams (3/18/12)
Shattered dreams,
Silent screams,
Tear stained eyes on a lifeless pillow.
Tethered hearts,
Brightened sparks,
Gentle kisses on a dark summer's night.
Infringed notions,
Masked emotions,
These thoughts are hard to hide.
Desperately waiting,
Constantly anticipating,
The dreams I had in mind.
Barley hanging,
Mentally cascading,
Why's it everyone's turn, but mine?
Alexander, thy name is one of conquests
battles and rivers of gold
what happened to you, son of every God
why everything you touch is falling apart
and the empire dies just the way your body does?
everything is possible, king of Asia
and yet not the things you desire the most
one cannot have it all, it takes
pain and tears to rule the whole world
and then the emptiness brings a scream up your throat
some decisions are for life, some factors
more important than others, although
your crying will not bring him back
false friends waiting for your corpse
to finally rot with a moan
a moon on a string, a flawless caress
Persian robes, Olympic gam
The white owl opens up her eyes,
sways her vision to the skies;
seeking out a creature's cry,
through the woods' nocturnal sigh.
In the darkness crickets sing,
far beneath the owl's white wing.
Dew drops to the leaves still cling,
sparkling with a lucent sheen.
Senses alert, she prepares for flight,
hearing creatures near their plight,
she spreads her wings into the night
silent as moonlight, and as white.

Still I wait
The sun shines,
The moon glows,
The night comes,
The day follows,
Still I wait.
Creatures roam,
Flowers bloom,
Stars fall,
Children pray,
Still I wait.
People love,
Birds sing,
Angles cry,
Wind blows,
And still I wait.
They saw the battle, I fought the war;
They heard the suffering, I saw them die;
They buried their bodies, I closed their eyes;
They praised their triumphs, I mourned their lies;
They knew their strength; I knew their shame;
They knew their dreams; I lived their fears;
They knew their life; I knew their very-soul;
They read their letters; I wrote their memoirs;
They wanted them back; I wouldn't let go of their hand;
They knew them as brothers; We together were one;
They said "They're soldiers"; They were Heroes in my eyes.
And in the end;
Missed them as I did;
Though in peace they rested;
I envied them...
For they've been taken
Maybe I didn't know, when i entered the café
Everybody has a price
Can't you tell?
Even I do, I realise
Name a price
Ask something in return
Submission never comes easy, but money does.
